Insight | February 2019 update
Bringing more performance and more accuracy to AVEVA Insight
Welcome to 2019 and the first of our updates for the year. This month we have made some performance improvements to the AVEVA Insight cloud platform, and introduced new functionality to the mobile app. These enhancements deliver a more seamless experience when switching between desktop and mobile, and help ensure you have all the critical operational information you need to "do" your job at your fingertips.

News feed now available on mobile
Regular readers of the blog will appreciate that we continually update our AVEVA Insight platform with new and exciting features, while also trying to enable that same functionality across all form factors. This month we are excited to announce that News feed is now available on mobile.
Simply click the News tab to discover unusual or interesting patterns in your data no matter where your are. The example shown here is a simple one taken from our public demo - air pressure in Seattle - which shows that pressure has been dropping over time and is now lower than usual parameters. This can act as a flag to operators to check system status, or implement weather response tactics (we have seen similar News items when hurricanes have approached!).
Insight doesn't just track weather, it actually monitors all your data points and learns normal operating patterns over time. So if your turbine power output is lower than usual, a pump is cycling faster than usual, or a valve is operating later in the process than expected, Insight will trigger a News item. This provides operators with the ability to investigate possible causes, and initiate preventative actions before an event happens.
Under the hood, sophisticated machine learning algorithms are continually working to determine usual parameters with any anomalous behaviours automatically flagged as News items. All this happens out of the box - no scripting or engineering required!
Even more detail packed into your smallscreen view
The mobile updates don't end there. We've also updated the way line charts are compiled so that you get even more detail packed into your small-screen view! Loading more data points from the cloud means that no matter what zoom level you're at you'll always get the most detailed resolution possible.
We've also been busy under the hood to make some performance improvements to the browser and mobile experience. Plus some minor bug fixes, including one where the new Insight Assistant could incorrectly appear inside the Excel add-in.
