AVEVA made excellent progress in the financial year ended March 2019, delivering good growth within the year, while strengthening the Group’s future prospects. Phil Aiken Chairman download iconChairman’s Statement (PDF)

AVEVA delivered a strong performance in its first full year as a combined company, both in terms of trading in the period and making progress towards medium-term targets. This growth was driven by increasing demand for industrial software and good sales execution, including an increase in multi-year commitments from key customers.

Empowering our People

Csr first block image

Culture and values

Through collaboration with employees from across the globe, we have developed a shared culture and set of values, which we launched this year as AVEVA LIFE. Our values underpin all we do and provide guidance on the organisation we aspire to become.

Community involvement

In October we launched AVEVA Action for Good, a group-wide employee and social initiative. We have pledged to provide the equivalent of 1% of our net profits to support social wellbeing and charitable causes and as part of this, all employees are offered an additional day of paid leave to support causes that matter to them in their local communities.

Diversity and Inclusion

We are committed to increasing diversity and gender equality in the workplace. We partner with several external organisations to help us understand and address the challenges in our industry, and closely monitor diversity metrics internally to help us to close this gap.

Governance

We were delighted to welcome Paula Dowdy as a new independent Non-Executive Director this year. Her international experience further strengthens the Board which has a rich depth of technological, industrial and financial expertise across our six Non-Executive Directors. The Board currently comprises the Chairman, two Executive Directors and six Non-Executive Directors, four of whom the Board considers to be independent.

As the Company works through the integration of the two heritage businesses, extensive work has been undertaken to bring colleagues together, streamline processes and policies and create a fully joined-up Group in line with our broader strategy.

A significant amount of the Board’s activities continues to be aimed at setting the strategic direction for integration and transformation activities and monitoring their implementation.

The Board has also undertaken a comprehensive review of its corporate governance framework and Terms of Reference in anticipation of adopting the 2018 Corporate Governance Code.

Matters reserved for the Board

Board members are conscious of the need to keep themselves duly briefed and informed about current issues in the environment in which AVEVA operates. Specific and tailored updates were provided to the Board by members of the Executive Leadership Team.

Committees

In order that it can operate efficiently and give the right level of attention and consideration to relevant matters, the Board delegates authority and specific responsibilities to its Board Committees: Audit, Nomination and Remuneration committees. The Committees provide a detailed review and focus on different areas of the Board’s work.
