The course will be divided into two modules dedicated to AR/VR:

  • Immersive Virtual Reality Training Systems - The state of art technology and processes behind the delivery of ITS
  • The AR/VR Platform applied to Augmented Operations and Maintenance - The recipe for success

 

Immersive Virtual Reality Training Systems

The state of art technology and processes behind the delivery of ITS

Course Content:

Phase I

  • Introduction:
    • Showcase of VCD POC and brief explanation of delivery case.
    • Brief VR functionalities: master viewer, instructor station, lms

Phase II

  • AR/VR Industrial Platform Project Setup:
    • Setting up correct rendering pipeline, camera layer, custom configurations for VR projects and custom batch launcher for the executable
  • 3D Models for VR POCs:
    • Prerequisite of 3D models for VR projects, shader usage and naming conventions for interactive objs
    • First Glance at Code Architecture

Phase III

  • VR Nodes:
    • VRManager, eLearning module, set up and usage
  • Animations:
    • Organize and export keyframe animations according to the VR UX, animation handling within code data structure.
  • Mesh Nodes, Layers and Sectors:
    • Usage of Mesh, 3DLayers and Sector nodes for VR coding.

Phase IV

  • Variables, Alarms and Procedures:
    • Creation of Variables, link to simulator, scripting of the steb-by-step procedures
  • Control System:
    • Controls, Devices and mouse-only usage. Picking logic
  • Documents and Misc:
    • Implementing document list and various other functionalities

Phase V

  • Q&A
    • Question and Answer session and recap of all the concepts seen

Description:

In our historical moment, where the experienced work force is reaching retirement age and the new millennials are entering the world of work, the training and the transfer of knowledge is becoming increasingly important.

An active training, ready for our times and certainly more engaging and immersive than the passive previous one, becomes a fundamental prerequisite for large corporations.

AVEVA proposes its Immersive VR Training System: an high fidelity reproduction of the plant where the operators work every day, with an high fidelity process simulation: the high quality representation of the environment, the right equipment position and the step by step sequence of action support the trainee to act for operating the plant safety, efficiency and productivity.

During the speech we will evaluate the 5 delivery types that the AVEVA Immersive VR Training System offers as well as the prerequisites necessary for the creation of the projects and a work-through of our AVEVA Industrial AR / VR Platform.

    • Setting up correct rendering pipeline, video channel mixers, camera layer, custom configurations for AR projects and custom batch launcher for the executable.
    • 3D Models for AR POCs
  • 3D Models for AR POCs:
    • Prerequisite of 3D models for AR projects, shader usage and naming conventions for selectable areas
  • First Glance at Code Architecture
    • Information architecture in the POC and coherence with 3D assets creation

Phase III

  • AR Nodes:
    • ARManager and ARMarker nodes, set up and usage
  • Animations:
    • Organize and export keyframe animations according to the AR UX, animation handling within code data structure
  • Mesh Nodes, Layers and Sectors:
    • Usage of Mesh, 3DLayers and Sector nodes for AR coding

Phase IV

  • Variables, Alarms and Procedures:
    • Creation of Variables, Alarms and Procedures
  • Control System
    • Gestures on Windows Touch Devices and mouse-only usage. Picking logic
  • Documents and Misc
    • Implementing document list and various other functionalities

Phase V

  • Q&A
    • Question and Answer session and recap of all the concepts seen

Description:

AVEVA has answer to the needs of the market to have more and more efficient remote assistance and maintenance services able to provide troubleshooting procedures and guide the operator step by step during maintenance operations.

There are 4 main pillars:

  • the familiarization with the asset, which places the 3D digital twin at the center, enabling the possibility of seeing the asset status in realtime and making query for design metadata;
  • the alarm manager, collecting the alarms directly from the asset;
  • the maintenance manager, with the list of the maintenance procedures (ordinary, extraordinary and predictive) and the trouble shooting procedures both in digital documentation and with step-by-step procedures through augmented and virtual reality;
  • remote assistance, available between the field operator and an expert who responds remotely with the aim of helping to solve any problem, thanks to an audio / video connection that allows you to see what the operator is seeing in realtime as well as take control of the application remotely.

All this defines an hub application that improve the human-machine interface, overcoming a new frontier.
