Achieve Operational Excellence via High-fidelity Operator Training Simulators: A Customer’s Perspective
Companies struggle with operating more complex plants with fewer people responsible for more tasks. Operators run mission critical processes across multi-billion dollar businesses where missteps can be very costly in terms of safety and profitability.
To increase confidence under various operating scenarios, Shell trains its operators and control system engineers on high fidelity training simulators. These simulators are based on first principle models of refinery processes and can be used to test control strategies, reduce start-up, and optimize training. Earl Wallace, Shell Canada Scotsford, will share his experiences with implementing this technology to drive operational excellence through long-term training strategies.
